Ford Super Duty Truck Equipped with Hitches Up Hitch Storage Solution

About

The Full Story

Built by a truck owner who got tired of fighting with drop hitches.

For years, heavy-duty drop hitches were the bane of my existence.

I left them in the receiver where they slowly rusted and kept a running tally of shin kills.
I stored them in the cab where they dumped rusty water into the carpet, banged up the interior, and required an awkward wrestling match to get them out from under the seats.

Sometimes they just floated around the truck bed until the sound of them destroying everything else back there became unbearable.

Eventually most of my hitches ended up on a shelf in the garage.

Problem solved, right?

Not exactly.

Because the moment someone asked if I could tow something, I’d be standing there looking like an idiot explaining:

“Well… I actually don’t have my hitch with me.”

Surely someone already solved this problem… right?

We live in a time where it feels like you can buy a solution to almost anything online.

So I went looking.

I searched high and low for a hitch storage solution that actually solved the problem — especially for the large, heavy-duty hitches many trucks run today.

What I found were a few basic brackets that held a hitch against the bedside… but you still had to climb into the truck bed and wrestle with the weight.

The problem wasn’t really solved.

So I did what I usually do when something bugs me long enough.

I built a solution.

The idea was simple: bring the hitch to you.

Hitches Up started as a project for my own truck. No gimmicks. No marketing plan. Just a simple goal:

Make accessing a heavy drop hitch easier.

The idea was straightforward:

Store the hitch securely in the truck bed, but allow it to swing out into an easy-access position so you can grab it, mount it, and get back on the road without climbing into the bed or lifting awkward weight.

It worked exactly the way I wanted it to.

And I was perfectly content with that.

The moment this became a real product

Then my brother-in-law saw it.

His response was simple:

“Uh… I want one. And I bet a lot of other people will too.”

That was the moment the idea of turning this into a real product started to make sense.

So I did the next logical things:

  • Filed a patent application

  • Refined the design so it could be manufactured at scale

  • Built prototypes

  • Tested it on real trucks

And eventually decided to launch Hitches Up and see where it goes.

Built for people who actually use their trucks

Hitches Up was created for people who rely on their trucks to get things done.

Whether you're towing for work, hauling equipment, or helping a friend move a trailer, the gear you use should make life easier — not more frustrating.

This is a simple tool built to solve a very real problem.

Designed, fabricated, and assembled in Wisconsin using domestic and globally sourced components.
As production grows, our goal is to move toward 100% U.S.-manufactured components whenever possible.
